SANDPOINT — A Laclede man accused of hog-tying a 12-year-old Asperger syndrome sufferer pleaded not guilty Monday to felony injury to a child.
Shane Lee Crawford is scheduled to be tried in 1st District Court on Feb. 13. He was being held on a reduced bond.
Crawford is accused of forcing the preteen to the ground with an arm bar and binding his hands and feet together on Sept. 22. The alleged victim is a relative of the defendant.
Part of the incident was captured on video by the defendant’s son.
The video footage was meant to help Crawford gain assistance in disciplining and containing the boy during Asperger-related outbursts. However, the footage was turned over to a school counselor, who forwarded it to authorities, according to court documents.
The incident occurred while Crawford was awaiting sentencing in another child endangerment case involving his son.
