Autistic children enjoy a special visit with Santa
The Autism News | English
Children love to sit on Santa’s lap and tell Santa what they want for Christmas. But Sunday morning at the Mall at Johnson City children with autism experienced a different kind of visit with Santa Claus.
“He enjoys it, he looks forward to it,” said Gen Baldwin, mother.
She said her son doesn’t like crowds and lots of noise. To reduce some of these distractions the event was scheduled before the mall opened, the lights weren’t as bright and there was no music playing. Barbara Talbert is with the Autism Society of America Tri-Cities chapter. She said dealing with some of these issues while trying to see Santa or any other activity can be overwhelming.
